One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest Blog #2

I believe that at this point in the story it's safe to say that Mr. McMurphy is getting the best of the rivelry between him and the nurse. This is very evident in they very end of Part  two. where McMurphy starts to watch the world series and the nurse turns the t.v off but he continues to watch the t.v as if it is still on and it eventually gets the other patients to pull up chairs and do the same. " Chief Bromden narrates in the very last sentence of part one: "If somebody'd  of come in and took a look, men watching a blank TV, a fifty year old women hollering and squealing at the back of their heads about discipline and order and recriminations, they'd of thought the whole bunch was crazy as loons." I think if mcMurphy got the nurse to sqeal and holler he definitely is winning the rivelry.

Honestly at this point I think the chief is at his craziest or really doped up or both. He's always talking about the fog and at this part towards the end of part one the fog seems to be at its worst as well as his imaginations and dreams. This is eveident in the part where he has the dream I guess about the floor going down and then the wall coming up to revel a big factory type place where one of the chronics then gets gutted. This scene is very wild and makes Chief seem very crazy and  in the scene of the meeting that they revote at to watch the world series he says how bad the fog is and its making himseem like he's just floating in space almost.

I don't believe McMurphy's presensce has changed the chief or his narrration that much but in the scene where he raises his hand in the vote to watch the world series the chief does say something about that McMurphy had this sort of force on him almost like he was pulling his arm up. And I believe McMurphy's presence has made the Chief and the other patients stand against the nurse more and stand up for their rights and wahat they want.

At this point I'm definitely cheering for Mr. Randall McMurphy, Chief Bromden, and all the other patients because they are the heroes standing up against the villainous nurse. They are standing up for things that I believe in and sympathize toward.

Cuckoo's Nest #1

In this first reading section we are introduced to many characters mostly patients. The notable characters would be Chief Bromden, McMurphy, The nurse, Harding, and the black boys as one character.
I believe THat Chief is a tragic hero. We aren't necessarily rooting for him because he's not actually doing  that much but we are on his side and when he comes into conflict we are definitely rooting fo him. He is tragic in part because he is mentally unstable and as big as he is doesn't seem he could hurt a fly much less stand up for himself.
McMurphy is definitely the Main hero but that doesn't mean he can't be an antihero. He comes in the place as the exact opposite of what people were supposed to be like at that time a big rebel  he was and did what he wanted but he stands up for all the patients and against the nurse. Page 24 where the nurse says everyone must obey the rules is a great example of his antiheroism.
The nurse is definitely the villain. Since we are on the paatients side  and they are against the nurse we are against the nurse making her a villain especiall how cruel she is to the patients being very forceful and impatient giving them harsh shots and pills and chaining them to walls. page 5 gives a time where she really blows up and gets mean and evil .
Along with the nurse the black boys are also villains. Almost tlike the villains sidekicks. they  are full of hate like the book says and treat the patients very badly. Page 7 where they yank Brombden out of the closet when he hides.
Harding finally I would say is a hero. We root for him because he is against the nurse and actually seems farely smart and logical aside from his craziness he could almost be an archetype hero.  We see him  argueing with mvmurphy n pages 52 and 3where he finally agrees with mcmurphy and sides with him fo r what we agree with.

Fina l Gatsby post

1.)What message is Fitzgerald trying to get across troughout the whole story and with the outcome of the story? A) I believe the message that he is trying to rela is that of  the degrading moral vales at that time and how at that time the American dream wasn't what it really was cut out to be. Throughout the story they cheat, snoke, drink, steal,  and lie in pursuit of happiness and love but in the end they all lose. In Gatsby's case he is killed.

2.)Does Gatsby being killed represent anything of that time period? A.) I believ it represents that (high risk high reward) many successful people who got what they wanted were risk takers and put themselves in great danger of their life in order toachieve success which some never did because of the consequences of the risks.

3.) What might have happened have not Gatsby covered for Daisy for hitting Myrtle? A.) I believe this would have change the story completely. Tom would get very mad at Daisy and would leave her and Daisy would get back together with Gatsby for good and Myrtle's husband would have killed Tom instead of Gatsby.

4.) Why does Daisy not follow through with leaving Tom and cave in? A.) I believe this was for a couple of reasons. One was that shewas so scard of Tom and that he might hurt her. Also Daisy was probably a little cofused abut who she loves and feels bad when Tom gives his speel about loving her and carying hr over water, so she caves out of fear and pity.

Great Gatsby Reading blog #2

I believe the purpose of meyer wolfsheim is to give us a hint based on meyer's criminal background that Gatsby is possibly in illegal business and ultimately is. he kind of makes us see Gatsby in a different light that he might actually be bad and a criminal.
The Backstory of Jay and Daisy's past i believes makes us feel kind of sorry for Gatsby, and realize how sad he is and how everything goes together about All the relationships in the story.
The rest of the story the real story of Gatsby's past changes my impression of his motives and makes him seem like he lied a lot which he did but I don't look down on him because he did it for a noble cause andfor love and just wanted t be successful and get back Daisy.
Over these three chapters I like Gatsby more because he was an uderdog and kinf of a rags to riches story and witht the insight on his and Daisy's relationship makes me root for him even more for his cause.

So far in chapters 1-3 I believe that out of the characters identified that Jay gatsby is the hero, Nick Harrawy is the antihero, and  Tom Buchanan is the villain. I have come to this conclusion  after reading the first part of the assigned reading and learning about all of them.
Aside from Nick's  overview in the beginning of the book from what I have read Gatsby seems flawless and definitely the hero. Someone who is talked about so much and is throwing these wnderful crazy parties that everyone loves must be a hero. I believe this is supported in a good way esecially for nick  on page 47 talking how Gatsby was so genuine and just by the way he smiled.
Tom Buchanan can definitely be labeled as the villain. Just in these first three chapters there are several instances where he is immoral mean and just the villain. On page 37 where he breaks myrtle's nose, on page13 he is racist which I guess was common at that time but to me at this time is and know one else seems to be, and on pages 24-26 where it talks about myrtle and his affair.
Jordan Baker I believe is the antihero. because she seems to be playing around wit heverybody and dishonest as it talks about her cheating in her golf tournament and we seem to just not agree with her throughout the chapters
I be lieve Nick is definitely a hero. he doesn't seem bad in anyway and right off on page 1  we learn about his good morals and standards he right away comes off as a hero especially as the narrator.
Daisy and Myrtle so far don't seem to fit any of these titles.

An Artists Style

Justin bua's painting style as a n art style is abstract wit hrealistic features. He paints real seens and people but just distorts them a little bit and uses many different angles to show the scene. Also artistically  his stle isn't extremely bright an vibrant but it does use a lot of bold solid colors to portray the scenes in hiis artwork. Now in the style of his content Bua paints the Black culture primarily. In all of these paintings the people are black. His style of painting people also seems to exaggerate expressions and movements which goes along with his abstract style. Finally his style focuses on the arts of music and dance. portraying instruments and people dancing in his paintings. Overall to sum it up he has an abstract painting style that focuses primarily on the black culture , specifically music and dance  sing bold colors and exaggerated movements and expressions.

death penalty essays contrast paragraph

Kroll and Mencken wirte about the same topic with similar views but in completely different ways. Mencken is all about logos persuasion sharing the facts about the death penalty and why the process should be changed. He isn't totally against the death penalty but against ho long it takes to happen. He supports his claim with many facts and logic behind why the process is wrong, on the other hand Krolls essay is a story  that is all pathos and a first hand account. He shares his emotions and others emotions from every view in thr process of the death penalty. He isn't totally against the death penalty just against the cruel process. He is really able to get his point across in his opinion and is much more effective than menckin in persuadinf the audience.
